Health Center Transportation

Health Center Transportation

On Monday, September 11, the district began transporting students with scheduled appointments from Xenia High School to the Dayton Children's Health & Wellness Center.

The goal for this program is to increase access to health care for our students, while reducing the amount of time students spend out of class. Families can schedule regular check-ups, as well as care for chronic conditions or illness, and even immunizations.

To start, the program will be open to XHS students only. After the first 2-3 weeks, we will expand the service to include younger students. Parents should note that only students age 8+ will be eligible for transportation due to car seat safety regulations. However, families with students of any age can always book an appointment with the nurse practitioner, as long as they can provide their own transportation.

Once the program is firmly established, transportation will also be available for acute care appointments to help address illness that occurs during the regular school day.

Funds for transportation to the school-based health center, including purchase of the vehicle, were provided by a grant from Nationwide Children's.
