XCS to Close for Students and Staff on Solar Eclipse

Xenia Community Schools has made the decision to CLOSE school on Monday, April 8 for students and staff, due to the anticipated impact of the eclipse on our community.
While we hope your family takes advantage of the opportunity to (safely!) view this rare solar event, both the timing of the eclipse at 3:00 p.m. and the expected high levels of traffic in the area are a serious cause for concern, and warrant taking this step.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we want to err on the side of caution and reduce unnecessary strain on local resources. Safe solar viewing glasses will be provided to all XCS students prior to that day, along with age-appropriate content in our science classrooms to help them get the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
